Looking back and seeking signs: How Family Constellations show another way of knowing

"The experience was like a waking dream. Family Constellations are like a waking dream, too. They honor the difference between noticing and knowing, the space between. All I know is that when I searched for my ancestors, I found them.."

By Betsy Hostetler, Ph.D.

“Let’s keep looking. Maybe we’ll see a sign.”

That was my only hope, because we had no map and no directions. Lou Ann, my best buddy in high school, had accompanied me to Sugarcreek, Ohio, to look for the place where my great-grandparents had lived their lives and died. We found only a worn and deserted town.

“I see a sign,” I told her. “It’s the sign to the highway.”

We’d come a long way to get here, and we were both reluctant to leave. As we drove out of town and up the hill, Lou Ann asked, “Would you like to pull over, look back and at least take a picture?”

When we talk about the 2017 North American Systemic Constellations Conference, Jamy and Peter Faust are among our Very Important People.

We are so glad to have them!

The Fausts are pre-conference workshop leaders for the upcoming conference Oct. 5-8 in Virginia Beach, Va., presenting on “Awakening to Soul Consciousness” as well as workshop presenters for the general conference.

They are also stepping forward as one of the key conference sponsors, and Jamy has been serving on the board of directors for the North American Systemic Constellations, the non-profit volunteer organization which is now organizing the biennial conferences and has taken on the mission of spreading Family and Systemic Constellations throughout North America.

On Thursday, Aug. 31, you can meet the Fausts during our special live video call with Leslie Nipps. It is the fourth tele-call that Leslie is producing, and this is your special invitation to join.

The times are:

  • 1 p.m. Pacific
  • 2 p.m. Mountain
  • 3 p.m. Central
  • 4 p.m. Eastern

The couple have been constellation leaders in the United States for decades, and as the founders of The Constellation Approach Immersion Programs, have trained thousands of students in peaceful, soul-centered constellation work. They are both graduates of and former faculty for the Barbara Brennan School of Healing and authors of the recently published book The Constellation Approach: Finding Peace through Your Family Lineage.

Join us live via video or phone, meet Jamy  and Peter, and ask the questions you want answered about why ancestral constellations work matters, how it works, and what they will be offering at the conference. This will be an interactive and enjoyable hour together!

The one-hour live program will be hosted by Leslie Nipps, co-director of the 2015 conference. To register for this conversation, contact her at
leslie@conviviumconstellations.com, and she will send you the call-in info.

Reflecting on immigration, Indra's Net and if  Family Constellations can heal the world

By Kate Curran, Ph.D.

The more I am involved with Family and Systemic Constellations, the more I am convinced that if we want to shift the stuck, circular, fractal dynamics of racism and other divides in our country, we must first look at our own immigrant traumas.

I write this article shortly after the incidents in Charlottesville, Va., and I know that by and large, this article will be read by a white, middle class, well-meaning audience – the immigrants and the settlers.  Before we can look out and successfully affect the visible and the not-so-visible horrors of our own American situation, we must look within.

A recent constellation session about chronic pain in my shoulder and leg revealed a woman keening over her dead baby in the Irish Great Hunger, intoning “Not another one,” with death all around her.
